Table Circle

Table Circle

Wide eye’s

Heads filled with their next reply

Eager tongues ready to spring forth

the next great quandary of philosophy.

Verse after verse souls poured out

through ink onto paper.

The trees died for this art.

Formulated answers at the ready

Rolodex of opinions based on ones

assumptions of fact

Emotional response has no bearing

Deal only in anger and rebuttal

Table circle

Open books of excreted pain

put into phrases of profound self discovery

Communion of phrase and word

washed down with the occasional

rhyme and coffee

Table Circle

Perry and thrust the inevitable

disagreements,

Literary coup’s run rampant

Tearing down all the Idols

One must tear it down before it

can be rebuilt

Destroy all the Cliches

Beat the rhythm fresh

wipe clean the after birth and

Let it breath

Table Circle

Tears fall from empathic listeners but

were they listening to you’re words or

their memory’s

A trail mix a potpourri of faces line the tables

with their glasses half full of your soul

Who will drink, and Who will waste it

Your knowledge of vocabulary paints a vision

of your face behind the mask

The you that has died a thousand times

When that same vocabulary was thrust at you

Table Circle

Illuminated by candles and stars

did I give them enough?

Tear’s weep out of you soul

Will they, can they understand

Pools of rancid water stand limpid

The left overs of the City’s weeping

Did we understand?
